Ones upon a time we all said this “mother talks too much”.
Once upon a time again we came to a conclusion that “mother always said….” this simply show us that in life there are no new situations ,only new ways of solving them.
As life took a new turn for me_growing up and all_ I took a moment to think back on how far I’ve come through life. As far as I could remember, mother always said “put on thick cloths once you feel a cold breeze “,”don’t eat outside and never eat sweets or you’re gonna have toothache “(just that mine was diarrhoea). She’d always say “save every penny you receive as a gift and make sure you pay your tithe “,”never get in trouble “,”think of what you can do to make money and do it”,Learn how to knit, sell, bake pancakes and weave hair “….
Mother said a lot and she still chips in one or two as the days go by.
As a child, I remember selling in the market with mum everyday after school and on weekends. I also remember saving up a lot of my snacks money to buy recharge cards to sell _ the profit was quite little but for an eight year old it was huge_. I remember making my building design beads into neck laces and selling them. I also knitted hair packers, phone purses and whatnot, supplied as an wholesaler to a retailer for sales.
At age 13 ,I remember making plantain chips and supplying to shops …
My childhood business trials were the best.though stressful, they thought me how to save ,buildup my capital base and of cause enjoy the fruits of my labour.
So yes mother alway said “owning your business pays better than sitting your ass down in an office working for someone else”..
I am twenty now and I couldn’t agree more.
